The vastness and silence of the Sahara is incomparable.

I had long dreamed of experiencing the vast solitude of the desert firsthand. On a 7-day, self-sufficient trekking tour, I explored the Moroccan Sahara, walking through long-abandoned and now eroded villages, across immense sand dunes, and to remote oases, where their shade offered brief respite from the heat and the relentless wind.

The fine, stirred-up desert sand found its way into every corner — even into the camera.
